To Minimize Harms and Maximize Benefits of Social Media to Adolescent Health, New Report Recommends Setting Industrywide Standards, New Protections Against Harassment | National Academies

new report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine offers nearly a dozen recommendations for social media companies, Congress, the U.S. Department of Education, and others to minimize the harm of social media use on adolescents’ health while maximizing its benefits. The report says social media companies should participate in the development of a new set of industry standards for design, transparency, and data use.
