“This event centers on the forms and formation of right-wing movements and conservative media outlets as they shaped the conditions leading up to the 2016 Presidential election, with an eye towards 2020.

Reece Peck is an Assistant Professor of Media Culture at College of Staten Island, CUNY. His focuses on populist rhetorical traditions and the cultural politics of class, with particular attention to the role of television news and tabloid media. His book, Fox Populism: Branding Conservatism as Working Class (Cambridge, 2018), develops a theoretical framework for interpreting the populist rhetorical address and branding strategy of Fox News and other key conservative media outlets.

Khadijah White is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at Rutgers. She conducts ethnographic media research in the United States, Australia, and South Africa with an attention to inter-relations of social movements, news, politics, and race. Her book, The Branding of Right-Wing Activism: The News Media and the Tea Party (Oxford, 2018), is a multi-platform study of the rise of the Tea Party via online, print, broadcast, and cable news.”
