In barely a year, Covid-19 has transformed from a localized outbreak to a global pandemic and, in the process, dramatically altered the existence of individuals, nations and the international community. As the world has progressed through the phases of the pandemic, it is currently faced with the paradox of significant increases in cases of and global deaths from Covid-19 at the same time that several forms of vaccine have become available, albeit in limited quantities. While it is impossible to know when the global pandemic might officially end and what the ‘new normal’ will be, it is undeniable that Covid-19 and responses to it have indelibly changed law, medicine and technology across all levels.
