Las FAKE NEWS y las estrategias de verificación del discurso público: Caso Ecuador Chequea

Resumen.
En la actualidad, las personas tienen libre acceso a la información y viven paralelamente la era de la desinformación, que parece tomar una mala posesión del periodismo. Las nuevas tecnologías también sirven para difundir noticias falsas alre-dedor del mundo y a una velocidad vertiginosa, en donde cualquier contenido con apariencia de noticia verificada es capaz de generar un alto nivel de impacto en la sociedad. Luce contradictorio admitir que la sociedad del conocimiento y la desinfor-mación habitan en una misma era; sin embargo, en este artículo se aclara esta paradoja. Ante esta problemática, se fundó Ecuador Chequea, un portal de fact-checking,que busca desmantelar noticias falsas y revelar al público información corroborada. En este artículo se estudia este portal, se muestran estrategias de verificación del dis-curso público y se pone en evidencia acontecimientos importantes de fake news que han generado gran impacto a escala nacional e internacional. Es una investigación cualitativa basada en entrevistas con el editor general de Ecuador Chequea.

[Abstract ] At present, people have free access to information and live in parallel the era of misinformation, which seems to take a bad possession of journalism. The new tech-nologies also served to spread false news around the world and at a dizzying speed, where any content with the appearance of verified news is capable of generating a high level of impact on society. It seems contradictory to admit that the knowledge society and misinformation inhabit the same era; however, this article clarifies this paradox. Faced with this problem, Ecuador Chequea was founded, a ‘fact checking’ portal, which seeks to dismantle false news and reveal corroborated information to the public. In this article, this portal is studied, public speech verification strategies are shown, and important fake news events that have generated great impact at national and international level are highlighted. It is a qualitative research based on interviews with the general editor of Ecuador Chequea.
