Social Media: Fact or Fiction? Newhouse School, Syracuse University

As we scroll through Facebook and swipe past tweets, how can we tell what’s true? Join Syracuse University alumni and other guests March 15 in San Francisco to explore how social media contributes to the spread of fake news—and how best to separate fact from fiction.

Newhouse assistant professor Jennifer Grygiel, an expert in social media, will be joined by School of Information Studies faculty members Jennifer Stromer-Galley and Jeff Hemsley for this panel discussion. They will examine how social media affects the way we consume news. Ellie Thiele ’12, who works as a user experience researcher with Airbnb, will serve as the evening’s moderator.
