SUMMARY:Reporting From the Front Lines of the Information Wars
DESCRIPTION:“Good journalism is no longer sufficient to combat the assault on truth and democracy. Media companies are striving to counter the threat of information warfare by working in new and different ways\, and to respond to the ethics challenges posed by this struggle. \nAt this exclusive event\, you’ll hear from journalists—including Daily Beast Editor Noah Schactman\, NPR Media Reporter David Folkenflik and Rappler co-founder Maria Ressa—about building credibility in the era of liars and leaks. You’ll dissect case studies with standards editors including The New York Times’ Phil Corbett and CNN’s Stephen Holmes. And you’ll better prepare for the future with insights from researchers\, security experts\, and big tech companies. \nJoin the Columbia Journalism Review\, the Poynter Institute\, and the Tow Center for Digital Journalism as we define the extent of this new information war and identify new best practices for media organizations. The event marks the formal launch of Columbia’s Craig Newmark Center for Journalism Ethics and Security and Poynter’s Craig Newmark Center for Ethics and Leadership.”
